Hi Chris
I didn't say or mean that, but have edited my last post just in case thats the way it came across.
The question is:
Will there be support for a 5 week Saturday afternoon club racing series from next Saturday?
At the end of the series we will then transfer racing to a Tuesday evening. |

I think that some explanation is required for the benefit of all that visit this site - correct me if I'm wrong.
Originally, we started out as a Tuesday evening nitro club, few chaps enjoying the sport of messing around with nitro off roaders. We acquired a load of hosing and marked out track every week and then had to put it away at the end of every session. It was an Easter / summer thing when the weather was nice and the evenings light until late. We had a reasonable turn out and it worked well down at the Rutland Arms/Mucky Duck in Woolsthorpe.
Summer drifted to Autumn and then into Winter, the clocks went back and Tuesday nights were no more, we swopped to sunday mornings just to keep things going - but as in all things we clashed with more established clubs that had 'proper' tracks - people had families de da de da. and it was down to the die-hard few (average of 9!) that turned up regardless.
The club then got the opportunity of using Arena UK - the indoor equestrian centre and we were back to Tuesday nights - and things went from strength to strength, numbers increased and we were becoming well established. Then disaster struck, a change in the management ( not ownership) and we were out on our collective ear.
By this time we had a hard core of members that moaned and groaned and racked our brains over what we could do... After a winter of discontent (just early last year - 2007) Ben Challis took it upon himself to source a piece of land, get the planning permission for change of use to allow us to build our track. Now to be fair, this is when it all started to come together. A few people got their heads together, put the word about and within weeks ( around six?) there was a usable track, the basis of what exists today. And it was all done on a shoestring - the un-named heroes that took time off work, begged, borrowed, (stole?) all the stuff we needed and worked like trojans to create the track (you know who you are chaps)
We had a reasonable season of racing last year - considering that it didn't really start until May and the weather over summer was awful - we raced predominantly on the Tuesday evenings again - our main reason for existence as a club - the weekends were taken up by trackwork. Sunday racing came about when the clocks went back again and the nights drew in. We also had a few challenges with our neighbour at the Motocross Track, the agreement being that when he has an event on, we do not use our track - the car park and other facilities not being able to cope with everybody - we don't argue with that request, we're there for amusement, for Dave it's his livelihood. Things will change when the road works outside our field are over and we get an alternative entrance.
Anyway, we now have a track to be proud of, that's on the racing map and I'm sure there will be Sunday racing of some form or other - but the race calendar is such that many of our members will travel to other tracks , and conversely there will be events at A1 on the Sundays as part of the different 'series' - hopefully our members will be ambassadors for our club and track - and then we shall benefit, as will the sport in general.
Tuesday evening racing is the root of our club - and I for one can't wait for it to re-start. I regard everthing else as a bonus.

Hi Tom, this would be ideal for you. It's basically nice and relaxed club leval racing.
There is always plenty of people on hand to give some help and advice as well. |

| sounds like a great idea, i know a few people who say that they have bought their kids an electric buggy but they are sat in the loft because they have got bored of racing up and down the street. |

| It was always the intention that it could be used for other classes. we will have to get some 10th down and work out where the track needs shortening or altering. |
