Hi,
I have trawled the posts on here and just looking to clear up a few points. I am looking at starting racing again after a long break for 7 years flying helis, but never raced Rallycross before, only 1/10th Offroad, my 10 year old son is also gagging to race his hyper 7.
1) I know the Thursday evenings are started up for newcomers but is the club also running Saturday/Sunday slots for this?
2) Aswell as the Tuesday evening race meets, are there also weekend race meetings?
3) I bought an X1CR FT and have a range of tyres, crimefighters, bowties, GRP Grips but no spikes or pins. Do these tyres work on the surface well, or should I find some spikes too?
Any info appreciated, looking forward to a trip down and a tinker around!
Ian

Hi Ian,
In response: Everything is a bit hit and miss at the moment, Thursday evenings were set aside for a set-up / practice evening, Saturday similar but depending on Track repair days, Sundays usually through the season for 'big' meetings only (this weekend for example is the TYRO series) and racing through the winter.
All of the above is very weather dependant, we do have a rain to drainage ratio situation and suffer flooding of the track - we are (at Gonerby) relatively new and have yet to perfect the track drainage situation, due to the usual thing about man-power and money.
As regards tyres - I've heard of all the tyres you've mentioned and and can only say that Angle spikes are good when the going is a 'tad' muddy but when it's dry and dusty bowties work well - The track when dry is really abrasive so expect tyre wear.
If you're coming from any distance, get in touch and I'll add you to the 'group' on my mobile and can let you know if racing is cancelled on the day - it'll save a wasted trip.

Be travelling from Doncaster, so about an hour. Have sent you an email regarding contact info for adding to your mobile groups. Thanks again, be down there soon hopefully!
