Any engine is ok,as long as its set up right and run correct and also looked after...if you are the type of person that runs an engine then sticks it away for a few weeks without a proper after run care then even a £300 full race engine will only last a short time.... |

Second hand are allright if you know where they have been and to what extent there life has been otherwise leave well alone..Access models have a good couple of 21 engines in at grantham from about £75,always a good idea to support the local model shop... |

evening Joe,
Have to agree with Integrale, no point buying a second-hand engine (especially from Fleabay) when new is relatively inexpensive. Even if you're going to go into racing 'big-time' spending too much on a 'race' engine is pointless until you are better practiced and can run consistently with the available power.
Many of us that race with A1 at Laughton and in the summer at Gonerby only use the 'cooking' engines that come in our RTR vehicles - and there aren't many that have a big advantage - apart from the driving skills and a well set up car.
Don't become a 'must-have' that needs the best brand name or the biggest numbers on the spec sheet - there's more to racing model cars than playing a 3D version of Top trumps! |

Like i said earlier on,if you know the history of the engine then yes take a chance BUT trust me most second hand engines are allmost past there best...not allways but you take a risk.... |

Pat's (Integrale) right again - ask yourself the question 'why are they selling it'
Never heard of SH engines.....but they're probably as robust and reliables as any other - 'you pays yer money and takes yer choice'

Sorry my mistake (J-James) when you said SH engine i thought you meant Second Hand,Never heard of them but these days most engines are ok as the build quality has improved over the years and to be honest i suspect that they are all built in the same far eastern factory... |

Integrale's not that smart then? age related intelligence deficit.....
Googled SH engines when I read your thread - if a main stream RTR manfacturer uses them they're probably alright - hence the 'you pays yer money....
After last Tuesday Joe, you'd probably just be glad to finish a race....go for the reliable, less-stressed 'cooking' engine amd drive better. (I've nearly perfected this method - it's just the 'drive better' bit where I'm having problems!) |

Look carefully at the engine in the picture - then compare it to your engine.....notice anything different?
No carburettor - is this an extra? Mounting flanges - there aren't any ! seems to be mounted via the lugs that you can see at the front end of the engine. Might be a bit difficult to fit it to your Hyper 7(?)
It's good to shop around but we've given you some sound advice.....get that picco P3, good engine, right price - and if you get a problem and you've bought it from a shop rather than the internet you got a person you can hand it to and say 'sort it!' |
