Dont rush it, heat up the engine with a hair drier before you start it. Itll make life alot easier. If your using a pullstart get ready for some blisters!! Check linkages e.t.c, make sure the radio is switched on at all times while its running. Keep the air filter on. Have fun! |

I'd try and go through the normal method for breaking in the engine. Unless you have a temp gun and know abit more about it. The heat cycle method requires abit more knowhow, if you think you can do it, then by all means have a go! |

Lewis has just put a new .28 SH engine in my Hyper for using indoors.
The running in instructions that came with it where pretty much the same as the one one the Max Bashing forum. Apparantly this is the best way now.
I even managed to run 5 tank fulls through Sunday afternoon down the track, so should be racing Tuesday. |

Bloody hell! I have done both methods of running in, and the heat cycle method seems to be the better way, however you really need a temp gun and also may need to play with the carb to get the temperature up, especially with a hyper engine as they are incredibly rich when new. Probably not a great idea if your new to nitro engines. In this case Id run in according to the instruction book. Just my opinion |

Well, my Picco engine has been installed, it's had over twenty minutes of moderate running, both on the bench and up and down the road - according to the instructions it's ready for tuning!!
Twice I've had it out and had the head off to 'encourage' the piston down from TDC...it's as tight as a crab's behind ! but by the cringe, it goes well - I may have to give it some thrash on Tuesday! |
