Just thought I'd raise this subject as we're getting a few new faces to racing model cars - it might just be a few points that could avoid potential disasters and conflicts in the future.
Parking space is at a premium, please park straight and not too far apart. And NO wheel spinning on the newly laid surface please! Pit area, same idea, squeeze together and we can all get in. Litter, if it's yours , please take it home - tidy your space as you go - is it fair to leave your rubbish for someone else to pick up?
Book in as soon as possible - we start sooner !
If you are on 27Mhz or 40Mhz, please ask if anyone is on your frequency (channel) BEFORE you switch on. We all know how fast and expensive some of our cars are - you want to be the cause of a crash or worse still, an injury?
Marshalling - the perennial bug-bear - after your race you are supposed to marshall the next one. Now some people don't bother and some people can't - the latter may have an excuse, the rest may be shot at dawn penalised in the future.
When marshalling, don't stand around in groups - you block vision and make it difficult to see the track from the rostrum.
As a marshall - your 1st responsibility is SAFETY both yours and those around you, your 2nd responsibility to get a car back on it's wheels, on track. It's not your job to re-start engines, make repairs or return it to the pitlane. If the engine cuts out put it down, off track and carry on marshalling.
If you're not marshalling - stay behind the fence or pit lane.
When you crash and need marshalling - throttle down and apply brakes when the marshall nears your vehicle - otherwise you'll be left until it's safe to pick up your car.
Shouting TO a marshall is ok, shouting AT one is not.
I'm sure there are other points that need raising, feel free to add them or any other comments.
Most of all remember, we're all there to enjoy our hobby. a little common sense and courtesy will make it a lot better for everyone. |
