Hi everyone
Here is a couple of photo's and a quick video of the new indoor venue for Tuesday evenings through the winter.
The track area will be 26m by 18m based on a 3m wide track all the way round. The rostrum will be down the left hand side. The DJ booth will also be flat against the wall.
The cafe tables will also be removed to allow plenty of space for pitting.

As we couldn't lay out the entire track due to the hall still being in use for a show, we decided to lay a small track out to test the fitment of the new track marking equipment.

If we can get a full 3m wide track layed out in the next couple of weeks then I will update the pictures.
Racing will start on Tuesday 5th October.

Interesting video. Obviously raises a few questions, Do the rails stay where they're put or would any impact move them? Are you going to have enough to make a reasonable track layout? Did I detect a little bit of sliding in the corners or was that my imagination? What is the grip like?
Other than that it looks like a good venue and the track marking equipment looks really good against that surface. Well Done! |

Please don't read to much into the video. To be honest I nearly didn't upload it, and it isn't listed on Youtube so the only way to see it is from the link!
The plan was to go in a lay a full track using the entire hall, then take some proper video and photos, but as you can see the blue podium/stage is right in the way, and completely un movable.
There is plenty of track marking for a full size track based on 3m wide lanes.
With the right tyres the grip is very good. I believe yellow mini pins are the order of the day for the buggies. Dave will confirm what tyres worked. He had plenty of grip but Iain none at all!!
Not sure about the SC's yet as I didn't have the transmitter for Marks Slash.
There seems plenty of weight in the track marking so it doesn't move, even after Iain clobbered it a couple of times. This of course may be different for the full size track with a number of cars in a heat.
As a little test it proved the markings worked and went together quickly.
So far so good |

| Another thing that seems to conspicious by it's absence on the photos - although the roof is covered with opaque panels - what lighting is there for after dark? |

Hi Phil,
from what has been rumoured....
I think we are using the lighting rig above Iain's head in the pictures...
Disco light racing, could be interesting!
Another question Admin... what is the story on power supply... is there 240V for us to use or have we all got to invest in 12V Leisure batteries for charging?
I think we need to get flyers done and shipped out to club members with all info on... there is not that many of 'us' that use the forum or t'internet, so everyone is aware of what is going on!
The flyers could also be used to promote the club around the region?

Sorry to disappoint lads we arn't using the disco lighing. Arena are shipping in some flood lights.
Not sure on power at the moment, I know we have enough for race control.
THe first Tuesday is basically going to be a shakedown event for all concerned. I will take proper photo's and video once the full track is layed out. |

| You ought to come down Phil, your mate Andy was down for the Sunday races - and I think he enjoyed himself....next time we meet I will beat him in more races, but I will need a brushless motor, better tyres and a whole box of tyre balance weight for ballast! |

Folks sorry it's taken a bit of time to put pen to paper.......
I ran with yellow mini spikes and grip is fine, but i would recommend hard compound tires or they might wear out sharpish. I will be trying Blue mini pins next week.
Don't forget it's indoors so clean, tidy and tight wins and stupidly fast means stupidly expensive!!!
Roll on the 5th Oct. |

Oops on that way of thinking Dave...
I won some fairly hard SCT minispikes in the raffle sunday so the tyres might be right..
The 6.5 brushless going in the Slash might be a bit wrong, will mean ballistic, sideways and messy
might have to join the indoor flight club instead!
There is a lot of interest already in the indoor racing so keep up the good work chaps |

Yeah back from the States, had a good time although Im pleased to be back.
Andy said he had really enjoyed the race on Sunday, although he found himself lacking in the tyre department too. Reckons some people were using angle spikes on the rears, I wasnt aware you could get angles for SC wheels (unless someone had done a 17mm hex conversion)?
Anyway, I will most likely come along to the evening indoor races with my Blitz, probably not until late October what with the UKEM race and going away again at the end of October, but I'll definately be coming. |

Andy had a selection of wheels and tyres, his SCT was really quick in a straight line - I reckon he was very nearly twice as fast as my SC10, he came onto the pit straight as I was passing the rostrum and we entered the banking at the same time!
There are mini spikes available for SCT rims (if you can get rims....) I have some of those tyres now (raffle win!) One chap had them all round and cut half the spikes off the fronts due to grip rolling - I think the majority would just put grippy ones on the back and leave the fronts as standard.
I think we decided that only SC rims can be used on SC trucks - no conversion to use 1/8th buggy wheel to be allowed, which is a shame as most of us do have a selection of different ones to use.
We're trying to keep a reasonably level playing field so we don't end up with a vast variance in performance so the racing should be closer and a bit more entertaining /fun. |

Had a great time on sunday, and some good battles, especially with Phil and his SC10.
Yeah, my truck does have an embarrassment of power, but it did end up being a bit of a hindrance in the corners, as both my sets of tyres were pretty average. Those spikes looked the biz though. I wonder what would be good on carpet?
Still, had a great time, and thumbs up to the people in charge
What make and name are those mini spikes? |

They are Fastrax 'Kourse King' tyres.
I was 'the chap' with them all round. Had some grip roll, but also had that with the kit tyres on my SC10.
Used Pro-Line closed cell inserts and J Concepts Rulux wheels.
Truck went really well with these tyres on. |
