Was a cracking day, very windy but lots of fun was had.
Ben you need to wind your car back up to silly speed, the competition was ballistic, without the wind they were clearing the double jumps with ease and the top 3 in the A final were creaming us.
Iain put up a good fight after our Slash's struggling with severe understeer on the dry track, a last minute tyre change before the final didn't work so he missed out on bringing a trophy home to the A1 camp.
Chris got second in the B, so a trophy winner on his first attempt at driving 'the lifeboat' but i won't be munching any astroturf for a long while, especially with his persistant track cutting in one of the heats!
Well done to Phil and Del too, both had a good day with their trucks with no dramas.
Think i was the only retirement of the day, letting the A1 side down with 2 motors going up in smoke... literally!
Thanks to everyone whom turned up, helped with marshalling etc and all the drivers for a good fun day.
Can't wait to see the hundreds of Tom's photos, saw a couple and they were crackers... particularly Chris's crashes!
Sorry Ben, you didn't win anything on the raffle... unfortunately Phil, Lewis and the Frecklychimp have some nice spiky tyres to try on the winter series though!
I think there will be a few more trucks joining us for some indoor racing, bring it on! |

Yes it was a good day. Looking forward to getting my truck now for the indoor season! Also the track overall was looking great. Well done and thanks to those who gave up their time to make it so. |

I achieved all that I set out to do - all heats and a final finished - and I wasn't last in any of the heats, the final I'm not sure about, but there was one DNF, but hey, I came home happy.
Even though most of the visitors had uber-quick racers, we as a club didn't put up too bad a show, so nothing to be ashamed of - a litttle fettling and we'll do better next time.
My last race as the drizzle started would have been better if I had some of those fancy tyres (which I now have thanks to the raffle!)- even the visitors were starting to notice the drop in grip levels.
Overall, a good day as far as I'm concerned, roll on the indoor series!
I'd like to add my thanks to all of you that laboured to get the track into the condition it's in now - it looked great and is a credit to you all. As for the organisational team that worked hard to give everyone a good day's racing - Well done chaps, you did so well today, you can do it everytime!
I'm still looking forward to the outdoor Nitro series though....that's where my heart lies |
