Hi guys,

Can anyone offer any advice to an imbicile? More specifically what's best to use to clean out a fuel tank, lines and engine that has had half a tank of fuel sat in it since the end of round one of the winter series? Its not quite solid but quite jelly like. I havent tried to turn start it as i didnt want to drag anymore of the gunk into the engine.
Any advice gratefully recieved.

Cheers

best thing to clean out the fuel tank is fresh fuel of the same type - remove tank from chassis along with associated pipe work, 1/4 fill tank keep all openings and pipes sealed, shake well until all sludge becomes fluid, blow down pressure pipe from exhaust and drain via feed pipe - repeat until clean (should work first time really)

Engine wise, remove from chassis (preferably) remove exhaust, plugs and squirt a little clean fuel in all holes, turn over by hand - after fuel has gone through engine, resistance will drop a little due to fresh lubrication - hold engine plug hole down and continue to hand turn sludge and gunk should come out / re-assemble engine (and preheat if possible) then start and let tickover until warm before gunning it...then turn up Feb 20th to race!

All of the above can be done whilst still in buggy - but just makes job harder!
