A few photo's of the track from the other week, and some from today with the track extension now done in gas hose.
Dave Hoult and myself laid the gas hose out this afternoon.

To finish I would say we need somebody who could possible rotovate the top soil in, and roll the track with the big roller during the week. (we can only get the big roller in the week) Does that sound about right?
Cheers
Chris

Track looks good but we need to raise it up a couple of inches to stop the water sitting in the low spot befor we roll it. We need to get a machine in to move alot more soil |

one roll of small and the extra roll of the large gas hose is left. We started cutting the new flexi to go over the tops of the jumps but ran out of time, so pretty much all of it will be used in the end.
Dave is on the case, trying to sort a JCB...watch this space. |

There was talk of raising the middle of the track so it slopes off in to the in field and digging narrow drainage trenches for it to run in to a pit. The drainage pits would need to be done first because we could use that earth for the track and if the trenches are only 9" wide we could cover them over with slabs etc. What do you think? |

obviously Scoob's gonna dig the trench backwards with his 'JBC' !
it was mentioned that the drainage needs doing - sooner rather than later - but any track repairs we do now won't be affected later by the trenching. this is what I put on an earlier posting:
"To clarify Ian's last line - raising the level of the whole track would require a LOT of materials and labour, our idea is to dig a 9" wide trench (mechanically) down each bit of the infield areas and under the track leading to the drainage channel at the edge of the field - and rather than fill in with hardcore, simply cover the trench with slabs leaving a half inch gap for the water to pass through - the soil being clay should be able to withstand the trench being dug without the side collapsing - pipe work would only be required where the trench passes under where the new road will be alongside our land."
Obviously, that didn't mention the track part of the trench - this would also require trenching and a pipe laying and then refilling. but the idea of not filling with hardcore was to reduce the material requirements, just the acquistion of enough 24" slabs to cover the trench with a half inch gap between each. The other question is could we dig a 6" trench instead of the 9" or don't they make digger attachments that narrow? |
