Hate to be a b**ching betty but I heard some comments from our MD at work today, so can everyone please keep their speed down entering or leaving the track, particuarly going past Sharmans gates.
Thanks |

I think i know who it was and will have a quiet word...
Its not me cos i'm always unlocking or locking the gates so can't drive through a locked gate at any speed! The first gate is always locked behind me too unless i'm opening up for a meeting.
send him down Tom if i'm there and if he has any issues and we'll sort it out before it causes issues.
although i admit to kicking up dust occasionally down the track, but will grow up, as should the other guilty parties. |

| No theres no issues at all, I was just asked to order some "give way" signs and put them somewhere near the gates (as you are leaving) but I said I would mention it anyway as I go down there myself. To be honest I have seen a few people fly past our gates, some of which were on a Tuesday night but of course we share the entrance with the motox track aswell so Ill mention it to Dave next time I see him. The major problem really is that you cannot see if anything is coming from the track as you drive out of our gate, especially in a big tractor because the bonnet sticks out so far. With a 1 tonne weight block at head height sticking out the front there is potential for quite a nasty accident! |

To be fair i take it very steady when your workplace is open.. from both directions... been a few near misses over past couple of years, mainly with farmers with 4x4's not looking either way and driving out from your yard without consideration of traffic from either direction... doesn't make it any easier having wagons being loaded or parked in the service road to avoid either.
In fact a Silver BMW estate was guilty of that exact thing this evening as i drove out of the gate, not an issue as i always pull over to the right to allow vehicles to pull out of your yard and for better access.
You are right to mention it though Tom... bit overkill with the signs though... especially since you can't see round the corner for traffic till it is there anyways! you should ask for a pay rise if they have dosh to waste!
Ask if you can put A1 Racing Club logos on the Sharmans side of the give way gate signs.. will kill two birds with someone elses stone!

Yeah I thought give way signs are a bit overkill. I suggested a concealed entrance sign that I have in stock but he said its no good! The foreign wagons parked outside are a problem too due to moto increasing their overnight prices apparently. Most of the lorries parked there are nothing to do with Sharmans and its getting a right pain in the arse for everyone!! I agree aswell that people could be far more careful leaving our yard (sharmans, its confusing arguing both sides!!). Most of the staff are aware of the the motox traffic but dont bother to slow down incase anythings coming and as for customers, well its obvious that the some of the hard done by farmers need to get the brakes serviced on their merc/bmw/range rovers/*insert expensive car here* :-p
Ill probably suggest that we also put some signs up before you leave our yard warning of traffic coming from the access road to try and alleviate that problem. |

I've only raced at A1 for the last few weeks (black Cougar SV), but I always drive mega-slowly up the track (which probably annoys anyone behind me) because I have an obsession about keeping my car clean! |

MX Ave had a word today about the speeding out of the field and up the service road, it seems that there is a resident that lives along there that's close to calling the police and complaining about the departure speeds on a Tuesday night in particular.
We may have to put up some 'Slow down TWAT' signs far more effective than just a 'slow' |

| That would be Jim. Really nice chap and a shame if he is upset. Could be the reason for me being asked to do this in the first place me thinks. |

MX Dave only said about it because i mentioned it to him on Saturday... the MX lot tear about in their vans so are equally as guilty as our lot.
its quite simple... when the race meeting starts the gates are locked till we finish and then everyone leaves in procession when we are finished and cleaned up. |

| Nice but not that practical really - you know how some people are.....last race and they're off, don't even marshall the next race as they should. Spectators coming and going, etc.,etc., |

If the bloke is that bothered... tell him to take numberplates and car details then report them to the police... simples.
Nothing we can do apart from moaning... waste of breath

| Could we not put a sign up saying gate must be shut at all times please close the gate after you then cars will have to stop either side of the gate to open and close it stopping people flying through an open gate just an idea! |

| I think tonights tactics woked better... nailing the culprits and shaming them... setting Ady on them will make them think twice! |

| Why not just get everyone together before heat 1 and tell them that if anyone's caught speeding down the lane then they'll not be welcome at the club in future? Most people will understand. |
