http://www.rcshortcourse.com/forum/hpi-blitz/2904-blitz-o-ring-diff-fix-w-pictures.html

Some might be aware, others probably not. I have had a problem with the oil leaking out of my diff and making a right mess of the back end of the car I did a bit of research today and found out its quite a common problem on the RTR blitz's. Basically inside the diff there is an Xring seal on each outdrive which the ID is slightly too big for the driveshaft. HPI do some orings to replace these. The oring size is 5mm ID, 2mm Section, 9mm OD.

Anyway, if you have never had the diff apart on you Blitz, or any other car for that matter, get it stripped out and have a look because chances are that there will be no oil or lubrication inside it which is never a good thing.

To get to the seals you have to pop off the e clips holding the bevel gears on which is pretty tricky as the clip spins on the shaft. When fitting the oring, I used the little wheel brace you get with the car to press down on the oring whilst I slid the outdrive shaft through it, then I spun the wrench around a bit to seat the oring.

The new orings are alot tighter on the outdrives than the old seals. Hopefully they will bed in OK. Tomorrow night will be the test

I got some orings from A1 Hobbies. If it works, speak to Lewis and he will sort them out for you.

Well I just realised I made a bit of a schoolboy error. Dont forget to lubricate the oring's

Hopefully when the diff warms up some of the diff oil will find its way to them!
