Just wanted to share my diff experience.
Almost everyone I speak to about the Blitz ESE says 'ditch the ball diff'. Mine was good at first and I liked the tune ability of it and last week I stripped it down, cleaned it and rebuilt it and it was still silky smooth and working great.
But then came the 2nd heat and after the race I was coasting back to the pits when I lost all drive. After inspection I found that the threads in the nut had stripped and caused the diff to loosen off. The nut I refer to is the plastic 'T' shape bit with the brass insert in it that sits inside the outdrive.
The realy annoying thing is that after hours of searching for information and parts availability that little part is only available as part of the diff rebuild kit costing about £30. So I have now ordered a MIP diff which is reported to be much better quality and parts are available seperately, it is also only about £23 from the US so it is cheaper than the standard rebuild kit and also cheaper than the gear diff.
Chris Spendlove has also had problems with his ball diff and now the Blitz ESE is available as standard with the MIP diff! So HPI must be aware there has been an issue?

mines nearly gone too ian so ive ditched it for a gear diff 3000wt oil and its spot on

I doubt hpi will cover it as it is a mip product, at least with a geared diff if it does go it can sometimes still hold together to finish the heat

the original ball diff is a HPI product will lol, the MIP one is the aftermarket replacement that is better., which has now been adopted as the part which gets included in the "latest" batch of kits, unforunately most of the kits still in shops are from the batch with hpi diffs in, and the new batch are only just filtering through

If memory serves correctly from speaking o HPI the MIP diff is only available in the ESE Pro which again you can only get in the States. I think all the European kits have HPI diffs. I will check when I speak to HPI next week and edit this post accordingly.

My diff only managed one 5000 pack in practice at Broxtowe, before it expired with the same problem as Ian's. Annoyingly it was properly built and silky smooth. But to be honest I was counting the minutes before it expired given the reputation.

I also had the drive pin slip out of a cvd but thanks to Will having a spare I a aged to continue for the day.

A hpi diff Will! I may be interested but is it in good order as I would only want it for the nut, What do you want for it?

After not long the diff slips and no matter how tight it is it will still slip and works loose during use.

So is the nut failing or the thread on the bolt failing?

I now have a MIP diff, not installed yet but it is built and it is way smoother than the normal hpi one. If I tighten the blitz diff so it does not slip it becomes tight(almost locked) and gives under steer on the power but the MIP diff is still silky smooth and turns freely! The proof will be in the pudding though!
