I am very sorry to be the bearer of such sad news, but one of the clubs most endeared and popular members has sadly lost his very short term battle with cancer. I will not with respect to his family go into all the details but last Friday at 07.00hrs he passed peacefully away with his family at his side.
For me Ady was a close friend and I will miss his friendship, his never ending mick taking, shouts from the pits when we c**ked up, whether it was Ryan or me crashing or Chris losing a wheel you could be assured of some whitty banter that never failed to make people laugh. He was an absolute legend with nitro set up and lets be honest if we ever had a problem Ady's name was always the first port of call for help!
Ady was a very proud dad to Ryan and daughter Sophie. He constantly told me about how well Sophie was doing at Uni and it was more than clear to see by us all how proud he was of Ryan. He always had that little cheeky smile when Ryan ran well in races. And i know he loved nothing more than watching Ryan do well with his 2wd buggy. But even more so with the sct that he and Ryan custom built together. We must not forget his ever patient wife Sue. Every Tuesday night I would turn up to pick up team Birkett and Sue would always have a smile on her face and it was quite clear to see the level of devotion and love she had for Ady.
I will miss him dearly and I am sure all the past and present club members that knew him will feel the same way. The pits will not quite be the same again.
I will of course keep you all updated of any funeral details as i get them. And I am sure when Ryan feels up to it he will be back racing again.
Please please please put up any of the good memories that will bring a smile to Sue, Ryan and Sophie.
and finally I wish my deepest sympathy to Sue, Ryan and Sophie.
RIP MATE.

Absolutely shocked and saddened by the news, we haven't seen any of you this season......or much of last year either so none of us knew of his illness.

Can I be first to add my condolences, from myself and I'm sure from those that don't frequent this site any longer but knew Ady well.
With cancer the only consolation is he's no longer suffering....

Incredibly sad news.

People come and go from clubs, some leave an impression, some don't, that's the way clubs are. Ady certainly left an impression :) He'll be dearly missed.

Sad news indeed, Im as shocked as everone else, being away from the racing I had no idea that he was ill. I got to know Ady a few months after I started racing. I always enjoyed chatting with him and eventually I found myself sharing pit space with him and Ryan almost every club night. You could gurantee a good laugh and plenty of banter. He would never hesitate to give you a hand with anything and when it came to nitro engines, he had a magic touch! I dont think Id have ever got my picco p3 running reasonably right without his help! He gave alot of time for the club and Im sure it will never go forgotton. My thoughts are with his family.

RIP Ady.
