Went down to the track today to have a look (and a practice!)
took some pictures to show current conditions. Apart from the 'bunny deposits' the track itself is in good condition, the rain and snow seems to have cleaned the astro and it looks quite bright - there's a few spots of weed but they'd just get ripped out first race!

Admittedly there are a few minor puddles, but it had been raining during the early part of the day.

The car park pictures are pretty self explanatory, walking across the mud was a bit dodgy and 'squidgy' also, the whole area is obviously well saturated.
Was it one of the chaps that we've had down that has punched through the barrier to where the sump was and increased it's size? at least now the puddle at the far end has somewhere to run off to.

It seems our neighbour dave has invested in astro, there being loads of rolls stacked neatly on his side of the barriers, I think his intention may be to cover his carpark and the kiddy practice track.

At least when the weather dries up we will be able to get straigh onto the track without too much work - I just hope that you can get parked somewhere nearby!

Hey Grasshopper.
Whats the plans for the car park? Are you looking for more rubble/hardcore to lay down, or just wait for it to dry out.

The track looks great, cant wait to get down and have a go in the (hopefully) not to distant future.

Yes to both questions, it will have to dry out a bit before we can get any machines on to work it, the skip company are a bit loathe to deliver as they've been stuck before.

We need to raise the carpark about 8" to 12" and then top it off with something (not a civil engineer, me) but like all things, with rent for the land and other charges incurred - and at present insufficient income, it's a catch 22 situation.

PM'd you Andy.

Grasshopper. Tell me to keep my nose out if you like, but do you pay for the rubble?
I work at an oil refinery on the humber bank, and the project I am managing will be dumping about 100 tonnes of chalky hardcore in the next few weeks. Im wondering if I might be able to get it delivered to your car-park? Id have to talk with the contractor about any costs, but I would imagine any delivery costs could be offset against how much it costs us to land fill the stuff....

We'd be more than happt to take the materials but transport costs would still be quite high coming from that distance, we do have local companies that are offering the 'spoil' for nothing - but conditions as they are have made it difficult for them to access our field....if you want to check out distances and costs the nearest postcode for the track is NG32 2AB.

You can contact me initially by a PM va my profile...(eeee, I'm starting to learn the jargon!)

Hi all, I am sorry to say that I have now sold up and will no longer be racing. This decision is mainly down financial and time restraints but I will be back. I have had some great times with you all and consider you all friends so if I can help with anything at the track please let me know and I will do my best to assist. If there are any tools or equipmment you need let me know as I would like to help where I can. I think it is increadable what has been achieved at Gonnerby moore and the track looks better than ever so keep up the good work, without the track grasshopper would just be hanging around on street corners again!lol. When I do return I will probably be all electric as all my planes and helicopters are electric so I alraedy have lipos and a very good ballance charger.
All the best
Ian

Sorry to hear you've changed to other disciplines.... If you ever fancy having a race evening I'm sure we could sort you out a 'loaner'

Thanks for all your past assistance- the track wouldn't be as it is if it wasn't for all the plant equipment you got us, not forgetting the days spent operating it either. We're glad we can still count on you for future help too, mate's rates on plant hire will be really appreciated this spring. Cheers mate!

P.s contary to popular belief,I have never hung round on street corners.

As they say, one picture is worth a thousand words.......If we had prolonged dry weather the skip companies would be willing and able to tip the much needed hardcore in sufficient quantity to make a day's work for our friendly digger driver to spread and level the car park.

Last time we booked everyone in to get the work done the rubble supply driver got stuck in the mud and screwed up the whole day...

Well, the tipping has started!!

At lunchtime today, Monday 15th March there were four big piles of assorted rubble and soil - now blocking the car park entrance!

What we need to do now is either get a 'man and machine' in to push it backwards - alternatively start moving the big stuff by hand and barrow along the centre of the car park area to raise the middle bit to allow us, and more deliveries further down our bit of land.

Recently returned from the track - Mark S (frecklychimp) has been down there since early this morning - along with some blokes and some very heavy kit!

His only words of warning are to watch out for metal bits / 're-bar' when you drive on, currently it's also VERY dusty, for once we now need a spot of rain....but essentially it's flat, drivable and looks the doggie's danglies.

any contribution towards the costs would be appreciated.......

I also think that laying some of the old astro over the pitting area would make it a little better for everyone, a volunteer work party would be required, since we don't have access to a Hi-lux, maybe a mitsubishi might suffice? who do we know that owns one of those?

Give the chimp a corrot or 2, it looks great.

Maybe some hype on the website front page and numbers might pick up a bit and help pay for it all.
