Could anyone possibly help us please!!!!
My fiancee and I have just bought a second hand Ansmann Virus with a remote control, the remote control does not seem to be corresponding with the car itself,
We have put brand new batteries in the car and the remote control,
in the remote control is a hcl jtr1 receiver box and we have just bought some 40mhz crystals and it still does not seem to be working,
the car just seems to be twitching whenever we switch the car and the remote on
any suggestions welcome as all we would like to do is race the car

thanks in advance

Hi,

Its going to be hard to diagnose the problem without having the car to look at but there are basic checks.

Sorry in advance if i'm pointing out what you have checked already.

Are the transmitter and reciever both 40mhz compatible?

have you got the crystals in the right way round? TX goes in transmitter and RX goes into the reciever.

Mark.

Hi Mark,

its okay as we are new to this lol,
yes the transmitter and receiver are both 40mhz compatible and yes we have the tx and rx in the correct places, we just cant think of much else to try and do ourselves, or any other checks to try

thanks

The only thing i can think of if you have good power on the transmitter is to make sure you have good power to the reciever.

If the battery powering the reciever and servos is low then it may have a fail safe which is stopping the servos from functioning.

If you are local to Grantham it may be quicker to take it into Lewis at Access models to have a quick check over, they are very good and will usually only charge you for replacing faulty parts.

If that is not convenient and you can get down to our track at Gonerby Moor on a tuesday night, we will be more than happy to have a look, if we can't get it working then there will be enough people with spares so we can test the radio gear for you.

You are welcome,

you should definitely come down to the track, it is a very friendly club and club meetings are relaxed and a good atmosphere, we have drivers at all levels, many are beginners/novice so you won't be out of place, the track is large too so the racing is normally well spread, so you can get used to running the car at your own pace without any pressure.

You are more than welcome to come down and say hello, look at the track, have a watch of how we race at a club meeting and meet the members before having a go if you wish, There are plenty of members to offer advice and help show you how to set engines up etc and its not about spending the most money on kit, just having some fun racing.

You certainly won't look silly, its not possible to look sillier than any of us erm 'older kids'!

We open 5:30pm on tuesdays, practice is open at 6pm, racing starts around 7pm and finishes when it is too dark to see the cars on the track.

Mark.

Bet you're not as much an 'older kid' as me...one of the 'nearly 30 somethings' that races with us told me the other evening that I was old enough to be his father.....trouble is it's true!

Mark (the Eager Beaver) Frecklychimp is actually right (rare that!)
We are a friendly club, all advice (welcome or not) is free and assistance always available.

If you visit the club, don't come empty handed, bring your gear and have a go. We all started the same way.

HA! Phil, i wish i was a 'nearly thirty something' my apparent youthful appearance hides the fact that in a few years i'll be a 'nearly forty something'! BUT you are still old enough to be my dad!
And it was very generous of you to describe my wreckless driving as racing; although if thats what Mr Schumacher is alledgedly doing these days i suppose i could also be describe a racer.
Back to the thread and Paul and Lou.... come down and have a go, i can vouch for the fact that it is a friendly place and the assistance from the more experienced guys certainly aids reliability and greatly adds to what you get out of the hobby. I for one am gutted that the days are getting shorter and the outdoor tuesday evenings will soon go inside and electric for the winter

The above line could be mis-construed I think you meant reckless - I've seen you crash, your line implies you don't !

You're still a cheeky bugger no matter how old you are! I can stay at home and be insulted....Are you also saying that you might not be able to race at weekends due to other commitments? We are going to organise some weekend racing at Gonerby Moor over winter.

Thanks to modern technology you can be insulted wherever you are.
I'll certainly be racing recklessly and hopefully wrecklessly on weekends....am i making words up now?
