You never know you might remember somone having a doofer or a spot wobbler for one of these lying around in there garage (i made those parts up i dont think its fitted with any of them but knowing the italians it could be)...

See that's why you have problems getting the parts - they've all rusted away - even the new bits.....get a German car, not as much 'passion' in the driving but at least you know it'll not fall apart if you slam the door.

I wouldn't have a german car even if it came with the winning lottery ticket...

The picture with your daughter(?) in should have the caption
"and this is what happened when daddy let mummy drive the car"
or
" and they said I should only play with dollies "
or
"I'm sure Paris doesn't have to ride round in cars like this..."
0r
"when I said something red and Italian, I was hoping for a ferrari!"

And I'm not afraid to wear mine...

ask yourself these questions, why they don't make Delta's anymore and why don't the majority of those they did make still exist?

could it be they weren't that good and not that well made -

a few rallies...and BMW.... no history ?

BMW has been engaged in motorsport activities since the dawn of the first BMW motorcycle. BMW has competed and won many of the most coveted and prestigious races and motoring events.

Formula One
BMW Sauber F1 Team - current BMW works Formula One team
WilliamsF1 - former Formula One partner, and designer of BMW's Le Mans winning sports car
Brabham - Former Formula One partner, winning the Drivers Championship in 1983
Arrows, used BMW engines from 1984 to 1986
McLaren F1 - Successful mid-1990s GT racing car with a BMW designed engine. It won BPR Global GT Series in 1995 and 1996 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995.
Touring car racing - BMW have a long and very successful history in this category. Since 1968 BMW won 24 drivers championships in European Touring Car Championship along with several manufacturer and team titles.
The World Touring Car Championship was won twice.
DTM successes:
1988: Roberto Ravaglia, BMW M3
1987: Winfried Vogt, BMW M3
1983: Dieter Quester, BMW 635 CSI
1982: Umberto Grano, Helmut Kelleners, BMW 528i
1981: Umberto Grano, Helmut Kelleners, BMW 635 CSI
1980: Siegfried Müller Jr., Helmut Kelleners, BMW 320i
1979: Carlo Facetti, Martino Finotto, BMW 3.0 CSL
1978: Umberto Grano, BMW 3.0 CSL
1977: Dieter Quester, BMW 3.0 CSL
1976: Pierre Dieudonné, Jean Xhenceval, BMW 3.0 CSL
1975: Siegfried Müller, Alain Peltier, BMW 3.0 CSL
Also BMW won the British Touring Car Championship in 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993.
Le Mans 24 Hours - BMW won Le Mans in 1999 with the BMW V12 LMR designed by Williams Grand Prix Engineering. Also the Kokusai Kaihatsu Racing team won the 1995 24 Hours Le Mans in a McLaren F1 GTR race car.
Mille Miglia - BMW won Mille Miglia in 1940 in with a 328 Touring Coupé. Previously in 1938 the 328 sport car also obtained a class victory.
Nürburgring - BMW won the 24 Hours Nürburgring 18 times.
RAC Rally - The 328 sport car won this event in 1939.
Kumho BMW Championship - A BMW-exclusive championship run in the UK.

(courtesy of Wikpedia)

And that's just the cars...I don't know much about the bikes but:
Paris Dakar Rally - BMW motorcycles have won this event 6 times.

Didn't McLaren use a BMW block for the F1 engine - I think many people and teams used BMW engines in motorsport over time, whereas Lancia used other companies engines - was it the Thema that used a Ferrari engine? There's been a few BMW engines used in aircraft too, but what do I know about history.

One thing you can't deny -in the UK, Lancia are not exactly popular, like Alfa Romeo they had a terrible reputation for rotting away.
Ask 99% of normal people which they would rather have Lancia or BMW, and the winner would be?

German everytime.

I never 'slagged' it off - just mentioned it's lack of continuity in production, it's build quality and it's popularity as a modern vehicle.

I noticed that you've put the awards in one win, one line - bit like the essays one had to write at school -sticking in an extra 'the' just to get the word count up...but I concede that Lancia, as do BMW have a long history in motosport - but in modern society where does the Italian motor industry lie ? with Fiat as their mainstream brand....
The Delta was probably, by far the most well known of Lancia's range and I admire your tenacity in trying to resurrect a design classic - but you can't survive on history.

But your non-response to the query about which people would choose - silent admission?
