Ooh yeah, now were talking, proper shed car and my first r/c 'model' definitely looked better than the lunchbox and slightly lower C of G made it handle so much better!
can vaguely remember thrashing it with a Schumacher Wildcat mini many moons ago though when a similar class was launched at the table tennis centre!
I know there will be a veteran Grasshopper to beat, its personal! this time Phil will have a proper sealed and marked motor by me though
looking for a Hornet or Super Hornet, they were good, failing that a manta ray! |

Is there a little accusation of motor- tampering there Monkeyknackers? I'll dig out the ol'Grasshopper, see if I can get some new tyres - the old mini pins have definitely perished over the years. Unfortunately, I won't be able to resurrect the Walls ice cream poster body either ....I still have the remains of the original though.... Should be a laugh ! |

Defo in on this, chimpy did say towards the later stages of last years outdoor this class might happen, Think it would bring alot of laughs and be real bargain bucket racing so put my name down for sure! |

Tamiya kit type tyres only i think... will make it more fun that way and maybe more careful shed selection will see benefits!
any tyres would pretty much work indoors and they won't be particularly fast, the young lads Lunchbox goes around the indoor track with no grip issues... just not quite enough steam to do the wall ride.
Grasshopper... You know and have eventually admitted you tampered with your 'stock' motors by rewinding them with less turns and therefore cheated all those cheap crappy plastic trophies from the poor defenseless honest youngsters back then Phil!
Shame about the notorious Wall's sign bodyshell, was 100% true 'shed' class!
Thanks for the heads up Will, but won't be driving to Liverpool for a Lunchbox or 40 odd miles to buy a knackered manta ray!
i'll use my racing connections and some good old bartering, swapping and blagging to get a shed class contender, all my old Tamiya and acoms junk went in a skip years ago... doh!
I'll have a word with Lewis to see if he can get hold of the cheap Ansmann motors or a suitable alternative, will make it fairer and prevent wallet winning, motors might get engraved yet to keep tabs on cheats!
Ballraces/bearings should be allowed for obvious reasons and they are very cheap these days
Any shelf queens or rich kids with the flasher cars like Top Force Evo's should have a handicap of a lap before starting or something similar, gaffa tape around the tyres?!
If it gets out of hand with fancy electrics then we could introduce the use of servo operated microswitches instead of speedos... now that would be entertaining, for those that haven't got a clue what they are... power is either full on or off, nothing inbetween so makes driving a car very interesting! |

Just get it sent on a courier mark, I think that we have enough interest for a class |

Thats not a shed Ian, that looks cool, saw that one when trawling and it does look fun!
i dunno mate, i think if its open to other manufacturers vehicles then there will soon be sheddy competition cars that would come into the class and it would get really competitive and the fun would be less, pretty sure i could find a Losi XX for £20/£30, then its game over as they were an awesome beast!
At least with crappy old Tamiyas they are mainly hunks of plastic, you can't really adjust them for racing set ups, the tyres will all be iffy compared to what we race on.... also if we stick to old cheap shed Tamiyas, parts are either non existant or expensive collectors pieces so it would encourage bodging to keep them going... a lap head start for anyone that makes repairs/parts out of wood!
If we limit it to monster trucks or just buggys then it wouldn't be as much fun i reckon |
