That guys ebay store is awesome. You can get a watch AND a crane as used on a chieftan tank all under one roof!

Mini anvil anyone?

Not a good idea to have that 2.4 Mw genny down there full time, even at 26 tons the pikey's would have it away over night for the scrap...!

The anvils look good value - especially for those running 2WD SC trucks - you'll need the extra weight to counteract the parachuting..

The pikeys would have to be quick, it would sink beneath ground level overnight!

Ben has made a relative point though, the club generator needs repairing or replacing before outdoor season starts as obviously the warranty claim had been unsuccessful on the genny used last year.

I'll scout around for replacement fuel tanks and

... And bodge something temporary but safe up using dead mower parts etc... Will have a look at plastic marine fuel tanks as they are cheap... Or even use one of the jerry cans as it's only gravity/suction fed.

What's that saying about buy quality and buy once?

Or buy from aldi and spend 2 years patching it up like scrapheap challenge!

You need an 11KV transformer to run from the set too, but a new low loss unit in an external enclosure would be a snip at £12k. Plus it would probably run more reliably if it powered the rest of Grantham when it ran. Not to mention the 400ish ltrs of juice it would get through each and every hour.

Apart from that i think i have about 69 grand of loose change in my car ash tray.........

Perfect.
I think is is the same as what we use at arena. Battery would cost no more than £40.
Or maybe the spare one at work would fit it?

I'm not a million miles from there if it will squeeze in the car...

If not i've got a mate in that exact area that i'm sure would be willing to help with delivering, he's also a keen r/c basher so can have a word and strike a deal if the decision is to bid at reasonable money...

i vote yes for it, if it doesn't cripple the funds too much (as we do need other stuff for this outdoor season too, although genny is an issue given the situation with how the last one limped through only one Season and the back up one is too weak for the job) as it'll be a sound investment for the club and its future... as long as it is capable of running a decent amount of lighting and the timing equipment etc... i would assume a Derv one would be more economical over the long term as the current Genny's are a bit thirsty and costly when considering their use really.

Would be about 50% cheaper to run and has twice the output!

Spot on then, could also sell one of the back up gennys to recover some cost too, won't need 2 as spare and Ben's little 2 stroke one is not much use (so the rumours are anyways and its less than 2 stroke!)
