Hi all, sorry I have not been about for a while. Have had other comitments but have still got my buggy and am looking forward to getting racing again, as soon as the track is sorted I will be back. I wont be able to offer the same amount of time and resourses to the cause this time but I will help as much as I can. I know that Phil, Dave, Chris, Lewis and I have talked about getting the job done so if I can help with organising equipment etc let me know. Ian 078009218019. |

Hi everyone
We will be making a start on sorting through the astro this Sunday 5th April. There will be a telehandler on site from 9am (and yes I know the Grand Prix is on) but this was the best time for the guy with the tractor.
So pop your name on the thread if you can help, and if anybody has a battery radio...we can have the race on as well!! |

Well the tracks's had it's draft design laid out - and by 'eck, it looks enormous! As per BRCA regs, it's predominantly 4 metres wide, with a section in front of the rostrum that is reduced to 3 metres. Having paced it out it's around 300 metres long, give or take a stride!
The new surface is going to need some attention before the astro gets laid, a roller wouldn't go amiss. Any able bodies for astro sorting would be appreciated this Sunday, 5th April, bring yourselves drinks and suitable clothing...
Any of the 'newbies' that don't know where we are just ask here for directions - and don't forget for the other halves, Downtown and Boundary mill stores are just across the road!

Done my sums again & think track may be nearer 375m long, have "lashed together" a measuring wheel that should give a more accurate figure(not that its critical). See you all Sunday. Steve |

I had a play about with my figures and having forgotten the exact number of paces got figures between 318 - 400 metres so you're probably about right.......compared to Laughton, some of our newer members are in for a huge change!
Didn't Laughton's layouts only average 90 - 120 metres long and be about 2 metres wide? mind you we will have the advantage of the rostrum and then the furthest track points will be 50 metres away! 1/8th scale at that distance is quite small, hi-vis paint jobs are advisable!!
EEeee, I'm getting quite excited! |

Ive got to admit, Id forgotten just how big a proper track is after not seeing one while we have been racing at Laughton! Just to try and give our newer members another idea of how big it is. My lap times at laughton average about 25secs a lap. My average at Gonerby moor last year was near the 49 second mark if i remember correctly!

Hiya all If I get time I will pop down on Sunday, won't be able to stay long or do very much but every little helps! Great news to see that things have continued to move forward and there seems to be great enthusiasm within the club to get the job done. May even renew my membership at this rate! I am at work this morning so if there is any equipment (plate compactors etc) needed give me a call. I can't do any free hire's but can do staff rates (-75%) Chris and Phil have my number. Ian
