To be fair, seeing as we only got the O.K. last Thursday it was a good turn out. There must be a few out there that have 'challenges' with the extra distance to travel or access to transport, and if those people need a lift or can car share then that might help with expenses. Ask here and we'll see if we can help.
All in all, it's an excellent venue - there are a few problems with access to areas - and as Chris (admin) has found out there's a fair distance to cover from place to place - but he has also realised how out of condition he really is!! (no chips with your burger next week Fatty! - I had Scampi n chips - tasty, but don't tell my wife!)
Yes we need a few jumps, the Jenkinsons made one and have commited themselves to creating another one - Thanks Chaps! More guttering for track layout is required - and we can source that too. The PA system is designed to be heard in the spectators area and not the 'holding' area where we set up the pits, but we could probably sort that. The main thing to consider is a suitable rostrum or easier access to the stands.
The track surface was better than I remember the last indoor venue's ever being - but it had been rolled before we arrived and held up well throughout the evening, the best thing was the place was so well lit. Even the exhaust haze didn't obscure vision too much.
We had a spectator drive up from Bourne (another Carl!!) after he spotted us on the web - let him race my buggy in the fourth round - certain people said how much better it seemed to be driven - my response to you lot....rhymes with ollox.
I did get some video footage - and I'll post it soon as it's been edited - some of the 'nutters' that got in front of the lens need to be removed first, we don't want censoring due to the portrayal of criminally insane looking racers!
Looking forward to next week....this could be a really good winter! |

Hi all, I'm the spectator from Bourne.
What a great bunch of guys and a good venue.
Thanks all for the advice and a big thanks to grasshopper for letting me run his buggy in a race..... Was glad I gave it back in one piece as only second time I've used a "wheel".
Will be over next week, just looking for a buggy to buy....

Welcome to the forum Sir Harvo, Having watched a bit of the video I made whilst you raced my buggy - your admission that you used to race a 1/8th circuit car actually shows - it seems we might have a 'dark horse' amongst us. To be fair, you did really well considering that my buggy is suffering at the hands of it's mechanic (ME) and the brake / throttle linkage was all to c**k!
Just remember with your buggy choice, it's not all about huge expense and blingy bits - more important would be that it's reliable, availablity and cost of spares also being a major factor as you WILL break it. Advice here is always free and freely given. |

Hi all. What a good evenings racing for the first time for the indoor venue, which is going on through the winter months. Pleased to see more people turned up then was expected, with more to come over the following weeks ahead. The food was spot on as i went for a chip butty which went down well.
Looking forward to a winter series for Sundays which is been talked about. But need to get settled in first, and things in place and tested out on the Tuesday evenings before we go ahead with that.
But all in all thanks to the manager Kim and Staff, which also has been a big help in making this possible ready for a good evenings racing. Nice 1

Had to cut the bits with you waving like a loony Andy, thought you'd be embarassed....but if any one really wants a laugh?
Basically for the rostrum we stood in the arena, it is one of those things that needs addressing! |
