i think it should be grass and dirt with a mix of tecnical and flat out sections . some good jumps that dont just need to be hit at full speed so that its not just about having the fastest car . will we have accesse to dirt or anything to make jumps from ,if so we could mace some off it raised . i have loads off ideas . |

We need a get together for a track plan as i think it need to be able to have a varied layout so we are not running the same track all the time.i dont mean over complicated just able to change a run every few weeks.also a raised section for pitting and a few killer jumps about 18feet high with water spashes and underground tunnels.. |

How about cutting the layout from the ground? It means you don't have to use much track markings as the course (should) be clearly defined.
Plus it means the club stands out a bit as there aren't many around with this type of track.
Sort of like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cJLvSa9CcA |

Retro, thank you for the link - for the land we have set aside, something similar to that would be a very good option, the only thing we would have to be careful of is digging too deep as we would then have a 'puddle' problem - but you are on the right track (pun intended)
Integrale1, Yeah right 18' jumps....and tunnels....cool - only if you promise to always marshal them.
There are current limitations with the land, these will be discussed.....track variations would be good, the easiest is to alternate direction on the same track.
Tcpug, also on the right lines with the surfacing - astro turf and paved sections have also been suggested
Reg, Grantham women are too tough for you
As regards the requests for track design - we have 4840 square yards - slighlty less than 70 yds x 70 yds or combinations of those dimensions, track designs should be submitted with approximate dimensions - showing all relevant areas and position of rostrum, pit areas etc. Notes on suggested construction should be included as well as your name and contact details.

hi all, been thinking about the track, what about putting 3 planks on there sides on top of each other to make the outside of the track, put a base in like tarmac(somthing solid)in a diomand shape, higher in the center, drill holes or make the bottom plank mesh every so often, then cover it with hard core, then fill with mud, clay, whatever, then when it rains the shape of the base will let the water run to the edge of the track and out the holes in the board its only an idea |
