I put in for the Oople Invernational Dave but haven't had anything through yet... its allegedly picked at random... although tht international drivers and it appears the top names in UK get more equally picked than others!
Might get in on a reserve basis, would be a good meeting to run at, although absolutely no chance of getting anywhere in it... but i would like the experience and a t-shirt!
I did nag at Jimmy from Oople at the Silverstone SCT national but he doesn't do the entry side of it, so couldn't accept bribes!
Will be worth a trip to watch for an afternoon though, Blyth track is very good and the racing will be top class.
If you tell me you got in then i'll cry and stamp my feet... then offer you backing as A1 Racing Club Pit Chimp for the meeting ; ) |

For our track you want schumacher yellow cut staggers on front with hard schumacher inserts, on rear its either dBoots MultiByte 'A' compound or yellow schumacher minispikes with schumacher medium inserts.
In the wet/damp you will want yellow front schumacher minispikes with hard inserts and either yellow schumacher minispikes or green Ballistic Buggy minispikes, both with medium inserts.
I've got a set up that will work on a madrat to give a neutral balanced starting point... but seriously you only need a 13.5 brushless in to start with... our track is not about speed, its about driving lines and balanced throttle.
If you watched the top drivers today, they are very smooth, consistent lines and no crashing... not quick at all and a slower car will be easier to learn to drive with.
Its all about lots and lots of practice once your car is neutrally set up... don't worry about everyone else, just concentrate on getting round the track for a whole race without making mistakes and crashing... losing 2/3 seconds a lap on top guys by being consistent is better than losing 10 seconds or more for every crash that needs marshalling.
You were doing some 35/36 second laps today with truck, but there were a lot of 40+ second laps too... the top fast guys are running 22/23 second laps, so you have something to aim for matey.
we'll get your car set up and then you need to spend time putting laps in until you are more consistent... don't worry, you are doing well and remember us lot have been doing this for years, so had practice, although a lot of us need more! |

Jake,
If you get down early enough (5 ish) then i will sort your car out for you and give you some coaching on the track, then Dave can concentrate on getting his car set up and racing after a day at work.
There isn't a lot of time between racing at club nights to get stuff sorted on cars before its the next race again. |
