Taking off the sharp edges is a good idea - many hands make light work so if we all brought a hacksaw.....in fact if we cut all the guttering at an angle there would be less breakages ?

On a more serious note - chicanes are alright for Scalextric but I think you're actually going to create a potential hazard for man and machine...

I was chatting with MR Admin on Tuesday saying that Peterborough didn't have a Nitro Racing club. He said there was one called the Nene Valley Club. I said that everyone I asked didn't know of any Peterborough clubs, but I would check.
It seems i haven't lost my marbles (just yet) the Nene Valley club in based in Rushden not Peterborough as you might expect based on its name.
The bad news is I'm sticking with joining you lot as its easier to get to!!

Regarding the guttering, if its cold you may find that a flexing hacksaw blade may make the brittle guttering snap when you cut it.
SOLUTION ..... I have a chop saw that has a plastic cutting blade in it that does mitre's of any angle. If you want me to bring it along, just say

Cutting the guttering is a great idea. Not only will it make the guttering last longer, but will reduce car breakages from hitting it end on. Only problem I can see though is that it *might* launch the car into the air??

Can't we make some little foam buffers to protect our little babies from the nasty guttering???

One of the new guys last week had a huge lump of foam attatched to the front of his Hyper. Thought it was a good idea!

The foam bumper only protects the bit it covers and anyone you run into! If you look at my front suspension arms you can see where I've hit the ends of the guttering - it's gashed into the leading edge.

The launching problem is only as bad as if you hit from the side...velocity x angle = takeoff!

I was always under the impression that Nene Valley was 1/5th...but the chop saw is a good idea - yes please.

I've stripped and cleaned the entire Buggy including the engine.

Really cannot work out why the engine is lacking in compression. It may be a leak between the head/shim's and block as a small amount of oil (I used when reasembling the engine) came out when I put everything back together.

Going to drop the price to £100 because of this, I cannot sell the Buggy in good conscience knowing something isn't quite right. The conrod and internal are in perfect condition. The sleeve may need a pinch (£10 for a pincher off Ebay) or a new piston/sleeve (go for about £20 on Ebay).

Chat to carl and make sure you are 100% happy before commiting to buy.

Last night's track, following the first round was great (if not a little technical!) I had a tremendous evenings racing.
Admittedly the first race was a DNF - it was also a late start issue for me - so a write-off.

Round two - things were coming together, placed 3rd?
Round three - even better, 2nd place from yet another late start (I'll have to stay focused on my own gear and let everyone else sort themselves out!)- everything was spot-on, but I think I'll need to break young Jenkinson's fingers next week to beat him!

Another new face turned up to have a look-see, gentleman has had an electric car for a while and fancies nitro. He expects to come back, geared up within two to three weeks.

It would do us, as a club, a lot of good if anyone sees a stanger at Laughton please make an effort to greet that person and make them feel welcome - I suppose for a first timer it can be a little intimidating as we go about our hobby - especially with the amount of kit that we seem to carry, and the banter that goes off.....new people may think they're intruding, make that bit of effort and you'll end up with new friends (and people to beat, until they get better than you...I know that bit well!)and a more successful club.

Roll on next week, I'm really enjoying this RC racing malarkey!

I could certainly do with a few more cars (Truggys) to race against

It's a bit boring in a race with 2½ other cars - Nick, your never ready

Nevertheless - twas a piggin good night!!!!

It would be nice if there was only 2.

Does anyone know if and when the weekly results will be put up online? I presume it's a Chris job from the lappy to the website?

Carl - forget the MP9, get an ST-RR
